Eid Al Adha in Bahrain

Celebrations for Eid Al Adha will begin September 1st of this year, with most public and private sector companies enjoying a few days off. A time of joy and celebration, here is what you need to know about the occasion:

What is Eid Al Adha?
The festival of sacrifice is the second major occasion in Islam, with the first being Eid Al Fitir. Celebrated by Muslims all over the world, it is also dependent on the sighting of the moon in the lunar month of Zul Hijjah.

How is it celebrated?
Eid starts with a special prayer that proceeds morning prayer at mosques. Eid Al Adha is also the time of Haj pilgrimage, which is a very important pillar in Islam. The Muslim community worldwide partake in sacrificing animals and enjoying a feast, as well as giving to the needy and poor. It is also a time of celebration for children and families, who all get together and spend the Eid days visiting relatives and friends. People are usually dressed in their traditional clothes, and children specifically enjoy this time, as most people give them money and gifts!

Eid Celebrations:
Most hotels and restaurants offer a special Eid lunch or brunch, as well as special promotions and prices on staycations and rooms rates. The meals are usually buffet style, and will include different types of cuisines and kid’s entertainment, which is perfect for a Eid celebration.

There are also a number of shows and live entertainment going on organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiques, which also make for a great night out! Different venues across the country will be hosting different programs geared towers family fun! Malls around the country will also have different performances and activities as well throughout the days of Eid.
