Moving houses? This 3 part series checklist will be your go-to-guide, from the two month starting point, to the big moving day, ensuring you don’t end losing your hair in the process!
*EIGHT WEEKS TO MOVING DAY
1. Sort and Separate:
When planning a move, take a walk throughout your current home and sort throughout your belongings. Decide what items you’d like to take, and what items you don’t need anymore. This includes clothes, home accessories, even small furniture items. Keep an eye out for any items that could need special packaging or transporting.
2. Research:
Do your homework and do not put it off – this will save you time, energy and most importantly, your sanity. Check for moving companies, packing services, transportation, etc.… This will make sure that you are ready for the big day, and know exactly what the plan is.
3. Create an Inventory:
This one is a dull, we know that, but it’s also an essential step. Create an inventory of all the items you will be moving with you; this way, you’ll be able to figure out exactly where everything is and what you took along with you. It may take some time at the initial stage, but once you reach your new home, it’s a guaranteed time-saver.
*SIX WEEKS TO MOVING DAY
1. Use it or Lose it:
Anything that you don’t want to take with you, start using. This includes cleaning supplies and food items.
Get your supplies together:
If you’re not using a packing company (yes, they exist), make sure you have all your supplies on hand. Boxes, tape, bubble wrap and markers are all items that you will need to plan your move.
2. Take Measurements:
If you already have access to your new home, take measurements of doorways, pathways, rooms, etc… to ensure that your furniture will fit in your new home. What’s the point of moving it if it doesn’t fit?
